Having done a lot of work on
the rest of the home, these
homeowners wanted to update
their kitchen. They did not
want the expense of new
cabinets, but still wanted a new
look. The hardware and floral
wallpaper border was dated, and
the space seemed too plain in
context of the rest of the
home. After painting the
existing cupboards a soft putty
tone, we replaced the countertop
with a travertine laminate and
replaced the hardware. The
walls were also painted in a
deeper tone to contrast with the
cabinetry. The flooring was
replaced in tones of rich browns
and creams. And, the gorgeous
glass and stone backsplash tile
is now a feast for the eyes.
Adding a touch of drama, this
tile finished the kitchen
beautifully. This kitchen is
now a classic and contemporary
space the homeowners fully
enjoy. |

When this client purchased
this home, he liked the layout
and architecture but not the
colour scheme. The dining room
lacked the elegance and visual
interest the client wanted so we
changed the colour palette from
bold greens to wonderfully warm
brown tones and added a red wall
to add some interest and energy
into the dining area. As it is
an open concept home, this red
was pulled into the living room
area as well. We introduced a
beautiful, contemporary mirror
over the sideboard and some new
accessories that reflect his
taste. This dining room is
ready for entertaining!

Here again the homeowner did
not like the continued bold
green palette in the room. The
fireplace and surround did not
offer much visual interest, and
the window treatments were too
soft and traditional for the
client’s tastes. We replaced
the window treatments with
top-down, bottom-up cellular
blinds, and we brought the red
we used in the dining room into
the living room space. We
painted the rest of the space
with variations of mushroom and
brown tones. The furniture
layout was also reoriented to
open up the living room and
accentuate the space. With the
introduction of new accessories
and artwork, we brought together
this new contemporary look. It
is now a space to relax and
entertain that reflects the
homeowner’s tastes.

This bathroom went through a
wonderful transformation. A
frosted glass door opens into
the space. The wooden cabinets
were painted out a subtle warm
grey tone, and white subway tile
was installed from floor to
ceiling with a glass tile border
around the entire bathroom. The
floor was also tiled, and a new
jet tub was installed. The wall
over the black granite sink is
now tiled completely in a
stunning bold blue tile (a
favourite colour of the
homeowners). The classic mirror
on brackets adds some
dimension. A new Silhouette
blind and waffle weave shower
curtain softens the space. A
new light fixture adds character
and other fittings finish the
look. This bathroom is now a
soothing and beautiful space
that invites you to rest and
relax. |

|
The homeowner wanted to
update the bathroom and replace
the darker, tired colours with a
light and airy palette. To do
this we removed the tub surround
and installed white glossy tile
in a subway pattern. Two
rows of glass tile add visual
interest and shine. The
dark linoleum was replaced with
a beautiful grey green ceramic
tile and the vanity was also
replaced with a modern, curved
wood vanity with a one-piece
glass top. A fresh
green-blue paint colour and
white trim brighten and enhance
the room. A new mirror and
a classic light fixture along
with new brushed-nickel faucets
complete the look and feel of
this soothing space.

These homeowners wanted to
update their TV area. Since they
liked the colour they had just
painted, we worked with this
palette in their new furniture,
artwork, lighting and
accessories. We added a
wall mounted LCD TV, and we
updated the window treatments.
A gallery of black and white
photos captures the couple and
their family through the years.
The cushioned bench was replaced
with floating shelves and the
wood trim was painted.
This space is now a TV room
suited for relaxing, with a
contemporary flare. |

|
The
homeowners wanted to freshen
the space and purchase new
furniture. Because they
would be eventually downsizing
to a smaller home, we opted for
a loveseat and chairs. We
added a new shelf, coffee and
end tables, and beautiful new
artwork and a mirror. The
area rug, some accessories and
glass lamps brought together the
existing colour palette in a
fresh way. The window
treatments can now be opened
from the bottom up or top down,
taking advantage of the great
natural light this room has to
offer. Now this living
room is a beautiful,
contemporary space. |
 |

|
 |
This room had become cluttered
with items that needed storage.
The layout of the furniture was
awkward and didn’t take
advantage of the beautiful
fireplace. We changed the
orientation of the furniture to
take the greatest advantage of
the focal point, and took away
the “stuff” that was competing
with the beautiful features of
the room. Other areas of
this large room were defined and
the basement family room is now
a soothing, warm space well
suited for entertaining and
relaxing.
|

|
The beautiful, large windows in
this living room were obscured
by the couch, and the seating
arrangement did not lend itself
to easy conversation. We
defined the seating area and
flipped the furniture so that
the couch and love seat faced
each other. Moving the
furniture away from the wall and
angling it also took advantage
of the great bank of windows.
Unnecessary items were removed,
and we brought in some new
artwork, plants, and
accessories. This room now
invites people to come relax in
the beautiful natural light of
the room. |
 |

|
 |
A good example of the
effectiveness of staging, this
room simply needed some
decluttering and rearranging.
We added a new table covering
and accessories for the table
taking advantage of the warm
tones in the home. We
moved the water cooler, and
highlighted an antique piece.
The message centre and bills
posted in the corner confused
the purpose of the dining room.
We removed all of this, and
added artwork and accessories to
the room. Now the room
communicates an inviting warmth
and simple elegance.

|
The couple was looking for a
contemporary, café style look in
their dining room. We
created a warm and rich palette,
and removed a lot of extra
accessories and furniture from
the space. A new light
fixture, a simple window
treatment, and a piece of art
from the couple’s travels added
life and energy to the space.
Finishing the look with a new
pub style dining set, we created
a space ready for entertaining
and relaxing.

|
 |
Continuing the redesign of the
dining area, this wall needed to
be simplified. By moving
the microwave to a more
convenient place in the kitchen,
and finding a new area of the
home for the pet, we were able
to create space. We
brought in a contemporary
sideboard, some ambient lighting
and accessories. Finishing
the look are two original pieces
by a local artist the couple
already owned. |
